Job Description

The search has begun for 30,000 volunteers for Expo 2020 Dubai who will be the face of the largest global gathering to be staged in the Middle East, organizers said on Tuesday. Volunteers will be a crucial part of the six-month event, which organizers estimate will draw in 25 million visits, of which some 70 percent will be from outside the UAE. UAE-based adult volunteers of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds have the opportunity to be involved. There will be some 45 different volunteering roles, from welcoming guests and guiding them around the Expo districts to managing events. Organisers said there will be more than 16 million volunteering hours across 173 days. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience, exposure, and work-ready skills as they help to put on one of the worlds largest events. A World Expo is a global destination where everyone can learn, innovate, create, and have fun by sharing ideas and working together. Every Expo revolves around its own theme to leave a lasting impact on the path of human progress, making each a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first World Expo hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA), and we want to trigger a long-term effect in this region and the wider world, inspiring the next generations. We will build on the UAEs tradition of hospitality to stage a World Expo powered by 30,000 volunteers over a period of six months, starting on 20 October 2020. Volunteers will be the face of Expo 2020 Dubai. Our volunteers will be from a wide range of ages, nationalities, and backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of our Expo and our nation. They will gain unprecedented experience having taken part in one of the worlds largest events. Ideal candidates will have: A background or demonstrated interest in volunteering and customer service UAE national or UAE resident status Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is essential Professional Ethics: Bases actions on the organizations set of values; can be trusted to follow the rules even when leadership is not present; is trustworthy both as an individual and in personal work capacity. Cultural Sensitivity: Treats all people with dignity and respect; acknowledges and shows understanding of others points of view and emotions, in the context of their cultures; is respectful of and perceptive about gender, cultural and religious differences. Collaborative Relationships: Views the organization as a unit/team and builds productive, working relationships with colleagues; is cooperative and collaborative with others and treats everyone with respect; encourages cooperation and collaboration from others and builds effective relationships with the whole team.
